Creating an inspiring, safe and nurturing environment is at the heart of every Early Learning Centre and with the right resources, you can ensure all children thrive at your service.
At Superstar Kids, we’re passionate about supplying high-quality, engaging & durable play and learning resources. Our entire range is hand-picked by our expert team, with your service in mind. We’ve got everything you need to help your centre shine and reach that ‘Exceeding’ rating!
We work closely with both manufacturers & Early Childhood services across Victoria and know which resources last, inspire magic & make the biggest impact.
Here are our Top 5 resource types for every Early Learning Centre:
1. Blocks & Construction
It goes without saying, blocks are a universal favourite. There’s a good reason for this too! Open ended by nature, they encourage creativity, resilience & communication. Examples: Wooden blocks, construction sets, foam bricks and even simple cardboard boxes. Our nappy boxes in particular are great for constructing your next cardboard castle or play fort!
2. Sensory
Touch, sight, sound, smell & even taste resources are great ways to engage little minds. They can also provide energy shifts when needed- think slow moving calm-down bottles for high energy moments; or zippy lemon- scented dough for those afternoon slumps. Examples: Play silks, playdough, sensory sand, calm down bottles and tough trays filled with water.
3. Dramatic Play
Dramatic play encourages imagination, language development, empathy and the exploration of different roles. A warm home corner, a vet or doctor’s surgery, a cubby space or even a simple rack of costumes can be enough to inspire little minds! By providing varied provocations across your service, you can encourage children to explore life in a safe & supported way. Examples: Costumes, ‘real life’ play sets, play stands or other physical space changers (cubby’s etc).
4. Music & Movement
I dare you to find a child (or adult) who can resist tapping a beat on a drum or balancing on colourful stepping stones. Providing children with music & movement resources aids in emotional regulation, fine & gross motor skill development and simply brings joy to all! Examples: Musical instruments, play silks for dancing, balancing/wobble boards, stepping stones.
5. Cultural
Providing children with resources that are significant to their own & other cultures allows conversation & insight into the wider world. Examples: Books in various languages, music & instruments from around the world, toys & resources that are created by or significant to different cultures. Making sure that all cultural resources are created by & with those belonging to that culture is imperative. All Indigenous resources from Superstar Kids are sourced from business which are majority Indigenous owned or businesses who work with First Nations artists and makers, to develop ranges of products that share stories, knowledge and culture.
Remember, with the right Play & Learning resources, all kids are Superstar Kids!
